![]() Don't waste your time at Scribe unless you are only going to take selfies or to instagram the view. The wine was actually the worst I had had the entire trip. I guess she assumed we would look at the tasting menu? The small plates were "ok", but overall, definitely not worth $60/person. For one of the wines, she just came to the table and poured, not explaining what is was, the year, etc. ![]() At one point one of the waitresses asked if we knew anything about Scribe we replied we did not, expecting her to elaborate, but to our shock, she replied, "cool" and just walked off. The service was EXCELLENT () and the wines are quite good, IMHO. I know what makes a good winery-visiting experience, and its not the wine. We were not given any information about the history of the winery. the winery and its history, how the wine making process works, and about wine more. It is obviously a very hipster/California casual vibe, but the waiter/waitresses took that vibe and ran. We were pleasantly greeted upon arrival, but after we were seated, the service turned to terrible. The winery itself is extremely charming, but that is where the good impression ends. Gundlach Bundschu for a serious piece of Sonoma history and killer wine. Scribe for some of the best wine available but also the most killer vibe that you can ask for. Acacia for some of the same, less well known, but incredible wine. Absolutely worth a visit.Driving up to Scribe, you are stunned by the gorgeous grounds and the hacienda. Hanzell for some of the best Chards and Pinots in the area. ![]() It did not have that usual Oak taste to it because it is fermented in concrete vessels instead of oak barrels. As with the other places we visited, we left with several bottles of the wines that we liked. In addition to their estate vineyards, the Mariani brothers lease a vineyard in Napa Valley on Atlas Peak, which they call Scribe Outpost East. We met one of them who was there with his adorable toddler daughter, and hung out with us and the other patrons for a little while. The place is smaller and quieter than most of the other wineries, and is owned by two brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani – who are 4th generation vintners. We were fortunate enough to have had a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the outdoors. They do an amazing job of creating a laid-back experience. There were printed Menu cards, and the food and the wines kept arriving at perfect intervals. The hosts were knowledgeable and pleasant. The edible gardens outside and the petty Cactus plants and flowers everywhere add to the soothing ambiance. The Wine Tasting at this Winery was on a patio outside the spectacular Hacienda – which is a restored building that blends harmoniously with its surroundings. Just the drive up to this place in the countryside was serene and beautiful. To say that the views are amazing in this part of the country would be an understatement.
